View Full Version : Proposed new social Forum for message boards
Vid Dude
27th August 2001, 01:17 PM
Hi there...
As you may have noticed, the boards aren't exactly thriving with boundless energy these days. It seems to lack motivation for users to visit.
I propose a new Forum - one where we can socialise more and not talk about the other abbywinters.com stuff. Just yabber on about the day we had or some stuff people want said. Most other boards seem to have these social based forums and that seems to be where the core of interest bubbles and mixes, sometimes leaking out into the other forums, sparking new more relevant threads to chat about.
I'm not 100% sold on the idea yet, it's hard to know if it will work or just look sad and pathetic. Abby I think is similarly wary. But not to say we aren't enthusiastic about livening the boards up a bit, and if this will help, then we'll do it.
I want your honest opinions - would you participate? Is it somewhere you'd socialise more often? Are there any cons to go with these potential pros?
Speaketh! So we may consider thy thoughts.
Go forth and multiply.
May the Force be with you.
God Save The King!

If such a forum were to be created, in what way(s) would it be different/distinct from the Mundane Chatter forum?

I think Vid Dude was talking about Mundane Chatter threads. Did you notice that the first post was dated August 27th 2001 ?

luxm: The last few months the AW membership seems to have really grown. I never thought I'd say this but, perhaps splitting the site would do what you wish. It used to take 1/2 hour to see the whole site and view threads, but it would take 2 hours now with the added memerbership. I suspect that with each site having threads, it would return to what u have suggested.

Everyone should read the Date of Vid Dude's opening post ... 27 August 2001 for this thread
I freely admit Matchless caught me out with this " Resurrection "
Almost leading to a very embarrassing post ... :o
Blowing off Dust can be extremely hazardous !

Hey! I said right there in my post: "4 years and ... several months ago."
I wasn't trying to fake anyone out or cause embarrassment -- I just found it and thought it was interesting to have such a time capsule. Now all of us who weren't there when the forums weren't, "... exactly thriving with boundless energy ..." can read and know there was such a time.
So now we are going through some growing pains ... happens. But eventually, even that will be forgotten and these forums will one day look even more different, but still the same :)

I'm not sure where the quote was but I think Abby said that when the site split occurs, the difference won't seen all that different to members. It will be like the difference between Gold Membership and reg. -- we'll all come to the same member page but people will have access to different parts of the site based on what they pay for. And I think that would mean the same one forum for all sites, still. If I'm right or wrong, someone from Team Abby is sure to post with the correct info eventually ...

Forgive my ignorance, being the first time ive gotten involved in 'boards' of any kind. I have found this quite engageable for acouple of reasons though; firstly most boards i have come across appear to have members in the 10s of thousands and secondly for the models engagement within here.
If you were to create a more 'social forum' how would you still encourage participation from the models and guarantee their privacy?
I would have thought a similary query to the models over what they would like to see within the boards would be useful.

Don't worry 'bout your ignorance, MelbG- ...
Maybe what we need here is someone who was there at the beginning to tell us what the boards looked like before Vid Dude made that suggestion on 27th August, 2001. Frankly, I love kumeraguy's response -- I think it really helps to articulate the situation as it may have been at the time. But I don't know what it was like back then, I've only been here since last summer.

Dear Abby and Vid Dude,
I am writing you this advice from the future; approximately 5 years from now. You don't know me yet, but we will cross paths later in time. I have posted this letter to you via a temporal wormhole I discovered while walking home from the pub last night (I thought it was just a cool purple swirly lighting effect in the bushes, but funny things happened when I tried to touch it).
You eventually do end up creating a social forum for the abbywinters.com message boards; it will be called Mundane Chatter, and will prove to be a successful decision. It will house all sorts of topics, ranging from favourite music, space flicks, poetry, and works of art, through to places where the sun doesn't shine, and will enable AW.com members to interact in a more friendly, sociable manner.
However I must warn you of a considerable threat to your project. No, it is not a flaming meteorite, a competing nude modelling website, or last night's take-away chinese. It is a future member, simply known as Elfie. Three years from now, Elfie will subscribe to your website, and ask some innocent questions on your message boards; this is merely a distraction strategy. He is capable of inflicting great amounts of pain and stress on you, your staff, and other AW.com members, and will be responsible for the delay of many quality image sets and videos, including one of four young female backpackers by a prominent Melbourne water feature. His motivation for this attack is unknown, although recent intel suggests that he runs an insolvency business.
To combat the effects of Elfie, it is recommended that you take the following precautions: Be sure that your are well versed in Sarcasm (http://www.sarcasmsociety.com/). Sarcasm on Elfie appears to have a neutralising effect, and deploying it in reply to his postings will provide momentary stress release, and comic relief for other, more civilised AW.com members. In early 2004, a member known as Luxman will subscribe to your website. It is imperative that you spend several months training him up to be a forums moderator, as he can provide valuable assistance in the battle against Elfie. Do not, under any circumstances, increase resolution of the videos, unless absolutely necessary. Elfie is under the delusion that everybody in the world has access to broadband, just like tap water and dodgy manufactured-popstar albums. Such actions have been known to be fatal.
Yours sincerely,
Diablo
P.S: In early 2005, you will embark on a holiday known as the "Special Project". It is strongly advised that you do not purchase a certain underwater camera housing (costing a five-figure monetary sum); such money would be better invested in more girl-girl and solo fixed-camera masturbation shoots (called Intimate Moments) instead.

Author, author!!! :D <3
Great stuff, Diablo. If I may add, it does seem the best way to combat/cope with Elfie is through the use of Satire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satire) -- the more the merrier :)

Thanks, matchless. I still seem to confuse sarcasm and satire sometimes... I'm learning though!

Oh, I'm not saying sarcasm isn't effective. Just a gentle reminder that it's not the only weapon/tool.
You have learned much, young Diablo. Just remember, "There can only be one! (http://imdb.com/title/tt0091203/)" ... Elfie/SpiffyZippy/Sorbet/...?

we have cute models walking around nude in videos (not so much lately, very sad), the resolution has gotten so much better, the models are talking on these discussion boards which is just terrific, the wait time for preview pics becoming released is shorter, its nice to have pics and videos released so close together, its wonderful to have the complete video series released at the same time and we had a shower video that was awesome ( too bad water was so cold)
i think we need a few webcams to really spice things up and more multi girl videos with lots of nude frolicking (include as part of tier 2/3 efforts), sprinkle in a few boy/girl/girl features, please try a backstage/behind the scenes video and try a nude barbecue by a pool, improve indoor lighting and reduce intimate moment vids (too many)
we need the members to be more forthcoming with what they want on this site
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE RELEASE THE NEXT CARLA VIDEO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
thanks,
this site will soon control all aspects of worldside sexuality
where is Elfie? and how can i be more like him

I took this retroactive advice, actually, and warned Abby against the idea, but it did no good. When she is hooked into a new idea, she doesn't easily let go.

You need to study shows by the name of "yes minister' and "yes prime minister" when dealing with Abby

Match,
I, like you was not around a long time ago but if you try looking here (http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://abbywinters.com) you will get plenty of pages of how the site looked in various time from start to now. Very interesting to see the development and how Abby has always been asking the members what they wanted and then taking on board the best ideas.

To be more like Elfie you must look inside yourself. Find the Elfie within you. He is there ...
Relax ... breathe ... inhale deeply ... now release aaaaand relax ... slowly let your mind be free.
Do not look for Elfie ... let Elfie come to you. Relax ... and breathe ... and relax ... and breathe.
Look ... ... but not with your eyes ... ... see inside your thoughts Elfie ... elfie ... he is there ... elfie ... sorbet ... look ... inside ...
