For me it was not so much an individual model. It was the style of photography. The format of starting with the model fully clothed in everyday clothing & having her strip naked... ;0)

The style of the models also appeals. The girl-next-door natural look rather than the 'professional glamour' fluffiness & polish.

Why thank you Jamie. It's neither a good or bad thing. The former girl friend in question was my first romamce where we, well you know, ahem, went all the way. This was in the late seventies where in the back-water where we lived, was in the tail end of flower power, progressive rock in its hey day etc. At this time I graduated and my mind was on starting a career and being responsible (you can yawn now). This did not coincide with her needs and she dumped me {sob}. I've since learnt that she eventualy married, and is an industrial bio-chemist developing GM grains and has now four children - perverse or what ?. I also moved on, got over it and am now blissfully married to my Gabrielle look-a-like. I can understand why you have warm feelings for her - Gabrielle that is, not Mrs Roops.

What I enjoy about the Lux and Charlie ( and for that matter the others shown on the above reference ) is that the women in those pics engage me. Breaking it down, the eye / body language draws me in. The imagination occuring behind the eyes is evident. They are more than " hey, its a beautiful day, my friends are here, I am having a fun time showing off my body, I am giggling because its cute " Not to knock that genre', its that I expected something else.

There wasn't a single model that drove me to subscribing, but I was continuously impressed by the quality of shots on the alt.binaries and the relatively high number of models who appealed to me, compared to other sites' materials (including some that I'd subscribed to). Among my incomplete list of very fav's (alpha order):

Bess, Beth (who I had a number of dreams about), Charlie (something about her teeth genuinely appeal to me -- how many guys are in love with a nude model because of her teeth?), Elise (just up today, yay!), Elizabeth, Gayle (why on Earth is she in Deviations? that's a fantastic shoot and I'd love more of her!), Julie, Louise, Lux cooked to a apple red crisp, Phoebe (who looks so much like my first high school love I could cry looking at the series), Sydney, Sam &amp; Tulley.

Things in particular I love about AW.com: The shoots have a realistic quality to them, and not all the models are "picture perfect" (Tanya on the skin-blemished side and Tamara on the "not-rail-thin" side). They frequently have a certain emotion (Violet) lacking in other sites. The photography is uniformly high quality, where the competition shows some that are excellent, most are good, and some are fuzzy to the point of uselessness.

Emotion in the shots: Many shoots have a genuine-looking emotional appeal that many posters have touched on, but it works both ways. Contrast Julie #121-151 or the last of Violet to the entire Beth &amp; Julia shoot. I've never seen a model looking more reluctant to engage than Beth in that series. No other site I've ever seen would have even considered posting those shots because of that quality. I'm not sure it appeals to me, but the philosophy certainly does.

The site is exceedingly easy to navigate. I can easily find a particular model using sorting methods that work, instead of just an awful drop-down box. The attached thumbnails in the sort are very helpful when I've forgotten a model's name. The ability to download an entire set in one convenient package (a ZIP) is incredibly wonderful, because I can mix, match, enjoy to my hearts delight, and even use the photographs for other private uses (desktop backgrounds, CD/DVD labels for my collected archives, etc.) that occur to me much faster than finding and then downloading a few shots from among tens of thousands. No other site makes it as easy for me collect in a way that's most suitable for me. Everybody else makes it either easiest for the administrators or hardest for the pirates, all at the expense of my enjoyment.

My current background: The sample of Zana. I can tell already she'll be high on my list when the full series gets posted.

No other site I've ever seen offers something like the Mezzanine, and Jessica and Julia there are wonderful.

Not only the quality of the photography, but also the quality of the presentation in JPG format is top-notch. Something that fills the screen is always nicer than something where I have to lower my screen resolution to get a decent look.

But my all-time fav must still be Annabel, Jamie, and (of course) the Annabel and Jamie gold set. How I wish I had the money for the DVD. http://www.abbywinters.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

As always, there are things I don't care for (urination, for example), and models who don't appeal to me. The flipside is that those things are done carefully enough that the remainder of the shoot isn't lost to me. Plus, they are presented carefully enough so that those things don't so overwhelm the site that I spend more time avoiding what I don't like than looking at what I do like.

Things I would like to see: Some more models in the "plump" (I hate that description) mold, like Sara in this week's Deviations. More pregnant models as has already been requested. That sample of Alicia looks fantastic. Perhaps several shoots through the course of the pregnancy, if a model were willing? And, though it may cause some controversy and not be within what Abby wants to offer, but I'd also like to see some of our models with their respective boyfriends. Not your standard action shots, but something with the same AW qualities and attention to detail that, for example, the Girl/Girl shoots exhibit. And please, not some semi-randomly or arbitrarily arranged shoots; instead, couples who genuinely care about each other, because that emotion comes through and is what lacks, IMO, from "traditional" material. I can get that elsewhere; the genuine emotion is unique to AW and is a big part of why I spend my time and money here.

Rnbwpnt, the money spent on the dvd with Annabel &amp; Jamie ("Girls on Film"), rest assured, would be worth every penny. Better still is "Girls in Love". For me the best scene is the look on Jamie's face as Gabrielle starts to give her a thorough going over so to speak. I may be wrong about this (probably am) but I think Jamie, prior to AW, had little or no lesbian experiences. The look Jamie gave was a mixture of pleasure, anticipation and sheer amazement in realising that a female knew how to turn her knobs and was playing her as Yehudi Menhuin would play a violin.

I think that seeing some of the previews for the g/g shoots got me intrigued.

Since then I can't pinpoint any one model, it was just when I saw a succession of girls who seemed natural, normal and healthy and yet in tune with their sexuality, that I decided to stay. It seemed that I liked at least one of the models each week if not both and that here were some girls I could actually identify with in terms of looks and personality and lack of fakeness in the way they acted. The positive and more realistic way in which the girls and sex are presented here was also a big factor in me subscribing.

I do have favourites but these can often change over periods. Whilst we are getting such a variety from Naomi L to Jamie to Kathleen to Alice etc who could be bored? or necessarily keep the same top 3 throughout. Having said that there are little charateristics or traits about certain models which do give me a soft spot for them.

Err and also, what convinced me to join were the obvious lack of glamoury blonds, for one... but most importantly, RESPECT for the girls. By the way, I generally like simple full-frontal nudes (and them going from clothed to being nude, etc.) and some mild spreads, better than anything explicit. Just browsing through some of the older threads, I think this one is still relevant enough to post something new in. It was Susie for me, but I will tell you, it was a long journey. I saw some pics from her first shoot a few years ago on some free thumbnail site (they weren't attributed to AW however--sorry, I have no idea what site it was that posted them though). But the file names did say her name was Susie. I continued to browse the web over the next few years, searching for her again, but to no avail, until Arsby posted a few of her pics in a newsgroup (yeah, I know Abby allows him to do this---hey, it worked for me---brought me here!). So there it is. First thing I did was go to all of Susie's sets, and then I started exploring the rest of the site!

In my case it wasn’t a single model that made me subscribe. I found posts of several different girls in the newsgroups and I was very impressed by Aimee, Ally, Beth, Danny, Elise, Emma, Katie, Nadia, Susie, etc., as well as the funny shots of Gwyn & Tara and Samantha & Tully.

Just to tack on my opinion to an old thread *ducks*, Annabel and only Annabel got me here. She's a once in a lifetime find, and I simply couldn't resist just a peek. Having work to do that I'm trying to avoid, I instead tallied up how many girls received how many mentions as "the ONE model that made you subscribe." I counted only girls who received mention as the ONE girl, which worked against Jamie in particular. She was named a number of times in combination with Gabrielle and others.

Thirty-seven girls were named, and the most individual votes went to Jill, with 5. With my vote here, Charlie joins Elizabeth with 4. Jamie, Haley and Petra had 3.

If this thread is resurrected, we might see more votes for newer girls, but Jamie and some of these others always would have lots of votes.
