I like the little AW logo that shows up next to the link in my IE Favourites list. I vaguely remember that you can get that by putting a file with a name like "logo.jpg" in the root directory of the site but I very rarely see it used.

A classy move, VideoDude!

Which leads me to: do you think aw.com needs a logo that is more widely used on the site? In the redesign you completely changed the look and feel of the site. Did you think of adding a logo on the pages?

Well, the new title is kinda the logo. I agree, VD sholdmake it into a smller, neater one (liek the icon that comes up on the faves list). And maybe I could start putting it on the pics as well?

The icon you see is actually the one from the old design.

I guess I should design a new one for the favourites list. One with a closer match to the new colours and font.

That icon has to be specially processed to work, too - it has to be a 16 colour bitmap saved in just the right format, then linked within the pages, and is called 'favicon.ico'. However, it won't change the one that currently shows up on your machine unless you delete it from your cache, or are a new visitor to the site.

Having a different kind of brand on the images wouldn't be too silly an idea. Something a little more prominent, especially for the pics that get distributed on the newsgroups. What say you, Abby?

And just for larks, here's an idea I had for the logo when Abby and I first mooted the idea of a new design - she decided not to go with it, but I still kind of like it, so I'm gonna use the idea on another website one day.

Hm, I like the first one best, kinda subtle... but is tehre any reason why the brand has to be monochromatic?
