View Full Version : Humour in Pics

OK, "humor" to the Americans...

I enjoyed the "height pics" where the new models stands next to Susie for a comparison. It will be great to see them when the models get their turn on the site.

The "cheating" that went on led me to wonder about other opportunities for humour with the models and whether having a modicum of very silly pics would add to the appeal of the set.

There have been some examples, e.g. silly faces, but some sets look like posing is a very serious business.

One idea I had, building on the height comparison is giving each new model a tape measure and getting her to measure herself. There's lots of scope for cheating there.

What do others think? Does humour make a difference?

I'm having a hard time figuring out what "cheating" and "humour" have in common, Artful. What did you mean by that?
In terms of humor in the shoots, I think most of the models here are pretty quick to smile -- something I truly appreciate. Other than making funny faces or gestures, I don't think there's much else that they can do to show a sense of humor.
Probably it's Abby who is most capable of eliciting some humor from a shoot. How about a practical joke... get the model to fold into a difficult and ultimately impossible pose, for instance, and get her reactions.

Hi Arsby

I ampretty sure what Artful meant by "cheating" was in the pic where Susie stopp on tippy toes toappear taller than the model she was being compared to. That's kinda funny (a whole lot funnier when you know Susie, actually).

Heh, we should do bust shots, as well, just to compare. Everyone'd be smaller than Susie... I'd like to see her TRY to cheat on THAT one. :D

That was indeed my reference to "cheating" in the height pics: I don't think Susie will permit any new model to be > 1 Susie.

How about throwing the model a ball during the shoot to surprise her? With your new camera, Abby, you are able to shoot much more quickly, right? Burst mode or something?

Maybe the humour thing will fall flat, I don't know, but I think it's worth a try.

I like the 'bust shot' idea, Abby ;0)

How about compare thickness of pussy lips?

Oh... I'm not allowed to say "pussy" here?

I'll stand in the corner like a bad little boy.

Just another thought on this one. Both clothed & exposed?

Hi Abby,
I hope you will pursue this one!

hi

yeah, it's a good idea, but a little harder. The height shots are easy and fun, and I don't have to pay Susie. But if I got her topless for each shoot, I'd have to pay her, and that'd get expensive. I might do a few of them, tho, just for fun.

This is about the proposal to have a regular staff member stand in for a comparison shot with each model.

On the Straight Dope site Abby said that sometimes the models just stand there like deer in the headlights. That seems like a good place for tape measures, height comparisons, and other ice breaking distractions. (If it was me I'd even try dumb kids games like "Brave old Duke of York" to get them moving.) They don't have to be undressed first, just loosened up.

By the way you wouldn't have to do it for everyone. I just saw your photo series of Cat. From the first (http://www.abbywinters.com/members/cat/cat001.jpg) set in the series to the last (http://www.abbywinters.com/members/cat/cat138.jpglast) did she seem bursting with confidence or what? (There's gotta be a story there.)

Anyway the point is there's a place for humor in porn even if it doesn't show up on camera. I think the alternative to humor for a lot of sex workers is "this isn't the real me" detachment or contempt. I prefer humor.

Hi Y'all

You'll be pleased to hear that since Artful came up with the idea of height comparison pics way back in October (we were in the middle of shoots in perth at the time), we have done a height comparison pic with pretty muche very model we have shot (Susie or Danny), and it has been cool fun. Those pics will be showing up in the backstage section over the next few months.

The idea of measuring models is also fun, and now we have a tape measure (I am not sure why it took two years to buy a 75 cent item), we'll be sure to include it in some shoots (and use it to keep more accurate stats of models - hardly any of them know their own bra size, let alone hips-waist-bust).

TFL, what is "brave old duke of york"? please describe. We're always looking for activites for models!

Brave old duke of york is a kid's movement game. I guess most people learn it in kindergarten but I first ran into it in a public speaking class where it was used as a tension breaker.

It's very simple and it sounds dumb but I think that's the idea if your model's doing the deer in the headlights thing and you need to lighten her up. You have 'em sit on a chair. You or an assistant sits down in front of them. Slapping your knees to the beat you say

"The brave old duke of York, he had 10,000 men."
"He marched them up to the top of the hill" (you both stand up, still slaping your knees)
"And he marched them down again" (you both sit down)
...etc. It ends
"He even marched them upside down, now wasn't that a sight?" (you both tip over and then back up.)

You've mentioned a couple of times that you look for new activities. Since you don't mind humor I'll think about it a bit. They don't all need it to relax, but I think sometimes it's hard for a nervous or inexperienced to break away from the conventional poses and expressions they've always seen in fashion magazines and mainstream porn. Duke of York or Ring around the Rosie (when all else fails) might give 'em clue. :-)

If you have two models who aren't into girl girl, see if you can get them to play Twister instead. You still get nicely tangled bodies but they don't have to pretend to be something they're not (or don't think they are at first.)

Hi TFL

I don't really get your Duke of York game, but I think I should do some research on it.

Please do get back to me with ideas for other activities (there's a thread on this very subject some place, actually...). Skip strip was great, cos it had the models interacting, and moving a lot, AND getting naked. So that's ideal. Hopscotch is another one that'd work well. Elastics.

Twister has been done to death on amateur sites, but we may be able to do it a little better than the opposition (maybe).

Keep your ideas coming! We'll be shooting in a few weeks, and will be dry for ideas at the most crucial time, so we need all the help we can get.
