How did you hear about abbywinters.com?

Well, what I really need is new customers, so have a think of people you know (both in RL, and on the net), who might be interested. If you have a personal web page, ad you could bare to, maybe link to my site.

Letting me know where you heard about the site would be useful. There's an ongoing survey that is part of the signup process (has been for a few months now) that gathers this info, so I expect you guys have already filled that out.

However, any ideas you might have on how to get new customers would be appreciated. Last time I collated the stats, news was the top runner, but the effectiveness of news posts diminishes with time. I find that if I do not post for a month, and then post a lot, I get a big spike in new signups, but if I keep posting, it dribbles out to nothing.

Jane's Guide gave me a great review, and I paid for some banner ads there as well (expensive!), and I got a lot of good responses (and members!) from that, but the second month i ran the banner, got almost nothing.

So, it seems that audiences are exhausted, to an extent, after a given period.

I heard about this site when I was browsing the newsgroups - One nice chap decided to post his "collection" there! I was very impressed with the quality of the pictures (No stupid thumbnail sizes here!) that I found your site and joined.

I probably shouldn't admit to that, but I have - So there... Don't get me wrong - They shouldn't have been posted!!! But they were, and I liked them, and I joined!

One thing I would say about this - Maybe you should post some "sample" pics yourself on the Newsgroups? Maybe start an alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.abby-winters group, or the like? It could be cheap advertising? (Or did you mention you do a little posting every now and then?)

I was doing a Google search for "Dekoda", a guy who posts scans of beautiful young girls, usually found in the alt.binaries.nospam.teenfem newsgroups. I wondering if he had a website.
One link was to a non-commercial websight that listed sets of scans found in the newsgroups. The host of the website -- our Abby!
She had a link to abbywinters.com. One visit, and a coupla nice emails with Abby, and I was hooked.
I just tried to recreate my path to the site, and couldn't find that non-commercial site. Maybe Abby doesn't have time for it anymore.
(Poor Abby, spending all of her time photographing pretty girls.)

I agree with Nightstar and strongly recommend you post into the newsgroups. It's free, and the target audience is right. Perhaps some of the "lurkers" around here can suggest their favorites. I like the aforementioned a.b.n.t newsgroups, and alt.binaries.pictures.chimera, a.b.p.e.breasts.small, and, of course, alt.fan.oksana-bayul.small-tits.
I mention those because if you have been posting, I haven't seen them. If you're posting to a.b.p.e.female or some such, no one will ever see your posts.
I'd be glad to post a little advert for you if you give me permission, Abby.

As I said in the first post of this thread, I do post to news now and then, but the effectiveness of news posts diminishes with time. I find that if I do not post for a month, and then post a lot, I get a big spike in new signups, but if I keep posting, it dribbles out to nothing.

So, I tend to post for a few days a month, and then let it go for a few weeks. I am due to do it again, now. Many grups frown on my posting stuff, cos I am loathe to post full series (no incentive to sign up to a site if they have the lot for free), and many groups' rules dictate that only full series are allowed. So that cuts down on a lot of possible groups, noteably the fetish groups (barefoot, hair, redheads, and so on).

If I were you, Abby, I'd forget the fetish groups and go for the ones Nightstar and I were talking about.
I also wouldn't have qualms about posting a short set of pictures. Take 10 pretty pics of different models, rename them AW_SMP_01 through _10 and voila, you've got a full set. Selling points like no banners, popups, ads, responsive site operator, interactive forums. I can't imagine anyone getting upset with that, if you post to just a few groups. (Then next week, AW_SMP_11 thru 20.)
The fact that two of your favorite customers, Nightstar and I, couldn't find you in our groups mean that either you're posting to the wrong groups or not posting enough.

We're rooting for you, Abby. We want you to get hundreds of new customers, and would do anything to help because...

You could post a whole set - But have the word "Sample" written across each picture, and the "best bits" of the girl in question blurred out - I'll send you a sample pic when I get home and "doctor" one - If you don't mind, that it. (Copyright reasons, and all!)

Nah. When I see a blurred-out crotch or a logo over the crotch, I don't consider it a tease. I consider it Ugly!
There I am in a newsgroup, looking at hundreds of uncensored pics -- a censored pic is an annoyance and will only get me to go on to the next uncensored set of pics. I feel the same way about watermarks that stretch over most of the pic.

Here's what gets me to visit a site:
- A few clear, crisp, uncensored pics, of several girls I haven't seen before, with at least face and breasts showing, preferably more.
- The girl isn't scowling, wearing too much makeup, or in a gothic costume.
- Some sort of indication that there won't be pop-ups, ads, and banners.
- An understated come-on that doesn't include shit like "Hi, I'm Cindy, come see me and my roommates" or breathless screaming like "Animals! Redheads! Feet! Toys!"

That's just me. I wonder what gets the other folks here to go to a site. Do you like those gothic outfits, Nightstar?

I don't think there's any need to label them as sample obnoxiously, as Arsby suggests, just the real pics is all that is required. Perhaps renaming them, so they confirom to a particular newsgroups' standard, but that's all.

The point I was trying to make, was that if you put the proper pictures to the NG, then what's the point of subscribing? You can keep the names - Or rename them to something else - But you need something else on the pictures, otherwise people are getting free sets!

What about size? Abby likes to give samples that are full size, I know, but for newsgroups, especially when you're really just doing it to advertise, you could reduce the pics just a little, to 800x600 say, and they'd still feel bigger than most pics out there, and show all the detail. But they won't be the true pics to give away, they have been 'adjusted' in quality for the mindless rabble.

Adjusting the size would be easy - No problems with that. It really depends if Abby would want that sort of thing done or not!

I do post full size pics to news, and on the site as the free samples. I am a firm beliver in providing a real smaple of what is inside the site - it seems absurd to me to to display anything else.

The whole point is enticing people to come to the site, and the size and quality of the images is an intergral part of that (indeed, image sizer rates highly in the stats for reasons why people chose to sign up to aw.com).

Again, writing "sample" in big letters on a pic is misrepresenting what I do here. Pics from my website do not have "sample" written on them, so nor should the pics that entice people to become a member.

So, what I have been doing, is post a selection of, say, 20 pics from the first 100 of a model, to a newsgroup, and say something like "see the rest of on www.abbywinters.com". I might start renaming / numbering them, see if that makes any diff, but teh thing is, if you post 20 out of 100, ppl know there muct be more, whihc means they are more likely to sign up.

But if you post 20 pics selected from that 100, numbered 01 to 20, ppl would assume that's all there is. Ideas?

I'd rather know that you have more than one or two girls at your site. I've been to too many that only have a couple of new girls and many stolen reposts.

I think you should show folks several of your models in the sample set, and let them know there are more. Post a set of 20 which include a couple pictures each of 10 of your models. From the point of view of newsgroup rules, a full sample set is still a full set; if it is aesthetically pleasing (real unadulterated full-size pics) no one will complain. With the quality of the pictures and of the girls, I don't see how anyone could resist a visit to the site.

Kumaraguy's suggestion to resize the pics to 800x600 isn't bad if you tell the audience that the full-size ones are at the site.

The thing I am getting at, is that the public are still getting free pictures - Resizing them to 800x600 still means that they are larger than most files posted, and still give the public a good view - And them knowing that they get even bigger pictures when they join would be a good thing!

With regards to people not knowing about that particular model having even more pictures - How about naming the files as such:

Katrina1of100 - Katatrin50of100 (Hey - We can use long file names nowadays!)

Or

How about taking every other picture? i.e. #1, #3, #7 etc... Or missing a few out - That way, the viewer (seeing the gaps) will know there are more pics!?
