Meet a bunch of models in person at AEE 2008

You might have heard the rumblings on the boards, the models flirting, seen interesting pairings... well, in early January 2008, we're attending the Adult Entertainment Expo for four days in Las Vegas, USA! We're taking 10 models, and you guys are all invited to party with us!

For the last six months, Susie has been working on this project full time. It's far and away the biggest thing we've ever done (and the most expensive, and the most exciting, and the most strenuous). The audition process was open to all our models, and went for a week. The models are in this pic top left (unfortunately, Jilly cannot make it, but Gabrielle can!). We whittled it down from 25, to 17, to 12, and now to the final 10: Anneke, Chloe B, Gabrielle, model:Jacki, Julietta, Marigold, Melita, Petria, Sue-Ann, and Violet!

A few weeks ago, we took our models to a small town called Mossman in Far North Queensland, and did a bunch of amazing shoots in rainforests, sugar cane fields, an island, and a sand cay. We shot solos, T3's, T2's, T3 shoot: infra-red, like paris hilton vid? and gorgeous T1's (some of the T2's were shot by the models to great effect!).

We will have a large, unique custom-built stand at the show and expect to make quite a splash (It's our first time attending, and our style is quite different to most other attendees). All our competition will be tarted up in their highest heels, shortest skirts, and the thickest makeup possible...

As always, our girls will fresh, healthy, new, real.

Right now, we're doing regular training sessions with the models, so they learn more about us and how the industry works. Our models are smart and will be interacting with our business partners in a serious way. They won't just be standing around smiling like on other stands, nor giggling brainlessly. They'll be having a bunch of fun with each other (there's no nudity allowed at the show, but we intend to push that to the limit!).

Our models will be doing a bunch of really exciting activities on the stand (some involve interacting with members), telling newbies about us, and working on some business-to-business stuff as well. There will be stacks of giveaways, and of course our models will be signing things, and meeting and greeting fans.

Staff attending will be sisters Susie and Patience, and Toby (they'll be working with the models). Rainbow will be there to work with our affiliates, and Customer Support rep Leprechaun will be working with him. Luxman (our discussion boards moderator) will be joining us as well. Joanne and Garion will be managing the boring business aspect. They are trying to convince me to come, but I hate these things with a passion.

All in all, it's going to be amazing! Susie and I will be updating the boards with more info as it comes to hand.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! This is the most amazing news ever!! 10 amazing Abby girls in Vegas live and in person!!! Plus Susie and Patience, too! Gee, I've gotta find a way to get there! Wow! I hope you guys make a lot of connections. I wonder what this may mean for the site... You guys will meet a lot of people in the buisness that could help you to expand world wide. Since you all will only be in Vegas for 4 days, does that mean that you will be going to the TRADE expo only? The Fan Expo comes after the trade expo, so fans will not be able to see you guys right? Awww...here I am living in New York City, *thinking* I live in the center of the world, the headquarters of just about everything...except porn. Darn it, meeting the girls would be such a dream, but unless I win the lottery in the next two months...

Anyway, enough of my bellyaching. This is such awesome news!!! Best of luck to all the girls and staff, and have an awesome time. You deserve all the recognition and press you can possibly get from doing this (perhaps Howard Stern would be interested in talking up the site if he saw it...). I mean, if I had anything to do with it, this four-day visit of 15 AW folks would destroy the gross, fake, make-up-heels-and-cheesy-music-and-lame-screaming-"orgasm" porn industry once and for all, once everyone saw that pure, natural, happy, positive, beautiful erotica is possible, and so amazing! Maybe the Vivid people will stop by the booth and come to their senses: "You know, we should be shooting real, beautiful, confident young women with natural bodies who love life and are never for a moment treated as objects!" And then pigs will fly.

I trust there will be many, many pictures and videos of this amazing event on the site afterwards. Riiight? And perhaps, some T3s shot on American soil, if the girls aren't too worn out from working all day?

Trade= 9-12 while Fan=10-12 so they overlap, jan-09 access would be preferred since it will be less busy (if it's as easy as CES.. ;-) Abby never said they will be in Vegas for only 4 days did she? That just happens to be the event they're coming over for (well, minus Abby herself .. don't like crowds much Abby?).

I do wonder what the 'Mossman' part of the message have to do with going to AEE2008 ? Same group of girls I gather, but the shooting of those scenes.. you gonna show those on AEE? Speaking of shooting, that's gonna be a loooong backstage video I guess ?

Am not so sure you'd WANT to learn how the US-porn-business works, at least not all of it. Should be interesting for the girls to talk to US-based models. Prolly plenty of differences.

Oh btw. Abby there's a party at the 12th .. you plan attending with all the girls ? Good opportunity to dress to the max, though 3 1/2 hours might be not enough for that;-)

Well of course I greet this news with both excitement and anxiety and much jealousy. For a start it's the best news for American members of the site and anyone else who lives near enough to get a relatively cheap air fare. But folks like me in London are left knowing we won't get to meet the wonderful girls in person. Ah well, it would be a good enough consolation if I eventually can make it to Australia. But the girls being there in person is obviously more exciting news for some AW members than others who will feel quite left out.

I guess it would be cool to know a bit more about why you decided to take this step. It would be very nice to turn more people on to the AW style of adult website and especially to the girls here and the way they get to portray themselves and their sexuality. But then how much can you change taste and do you really want the market/members that some of those websites/video companies at the expo are chasing? Of course I hope it will be a case of there being lots of people out there who didn't know there was a better class of adult website out there til they see you guys or people who have been waiting for a site like this for a long time and don't actually like the fodder that a lot of the people at the expo are churning out. I do always feel that AW has gone looking for new members in the right places and to grow the site and get out the word in the right kinds of markets. Currently, new members who come on here from the US and other countries where the mainstream adult industry puts out lots and lots of stuff or where there are already plenty of adult websites, seem to be in tune with what AW is all about and give the right kind of constructive input. I guess I worry there'll suddenly be a bunch of new members coming on the boards with stuff like "give us more anal now", "shave off those pubes now" or "get rid of the talking in the videos, I just wanna see dildo action".

In the preview shots I see a group of beautiful young women who are gorgeous without lots of makeup, have delicious and very desireable and natural bodies, in many cases sexy natural pubic hair and are recognisable for their personalities as much as their physical look (just look on the boards and you'll see a bunch of thoughtful, smart, funny, friendly and interesting young women). A great variety of looks in there covering the spectrum of female beauty, all radiant and shot in some incredibly beautiful Australian countryside. I guess I'll know if I come back this time next year and see a group of very similar looking girls, shot in Hawaii, all shaved and none of whom I've ever talked to on the boards or seen interacting in any way, that the expo changed you too much.

On a more serious and not so lighthearted note, please stay true to your ideals and the vision and ethics you originally had for this site. Don't get co-opted into their scene. There will be lots of people who think they've got good ideas for your site at the expo, but are only seeing what's in it for themselves. I hope the training for the event included how to avoid any of their tricks and how to say no to certain types of approaches/suggestions for collaborations. Hope you meet some like minded amateur sites, especially American ones and can share ideas. I'd go as far as to say a lot of the people there can learn far far more from AW than you will learn from them. To sum up, hope this will end up with you starting to change and win over new minds rather then them changing you.

On a happier note I do look forward to all the shoots and videos that will come out of this trip, especially as every glimpse of Australia's wonderful women and breathtaking countryside lures me more and more towards a trip there.

Abby, this is great news.

With such an abundance of beauty and talent, selection must have been difficult, and one's heart goes out to all the wonderful models who didn't make it into the final lineup. You could have assembled several groups of 10 models just as good, so I hope tyhe girls that didn't get picked won't feel put down by being left out. They must know we love them as much as ever!!!

Not only am I sure the AW stand will achieve a brilliant profile in the adult industry world; I bet too that a lot of models from other sites will be queuing for visas to Australia when they hear about what it's like to be an AW model.

I just wish I could dream up a halfway convincing reason to persuade my nearest and dearest that I absolutely must travel to LV at that time!

One thing I can't help wondering about just a tad: I appreciate your declared strong distaste for direct involvement with events of this kind, but I can't help feeling that an Abby Winters presence without Abby Winters could be seen as sort of like Hamlet without the Prince... On the other hand perhaps the non-appearance of a Mysterious Woman who prefers to remain unseen and to let her creation speak for itself (or something like that) might add an alluringly distinctive aura. who knows? ("Who is Abby, what is she,/that all her fans commend her..." to the tune of Schubert's "To Sylvia")

Anyway, what with the brilliant models and staff who are going, I'm sure AW will take Las Vegas by storm.

Fun for a short time though, verrry fun (then you go back home and have to open your own frontdoor, such a change;-).

Venetian didn't have any rooms left during that period, but Wynn's does. You might choke on their prices though, so take care (lines like "The hotel also has a Maserati and Ferrari dealership on the premises." should give ample warning;-). It IS close to Sands though.

1. Allow producers (AW) to meet distributors, this is the 'trade' part
2. Allow fans to meet their idols, obviously this is the 'fan' part ;-)

I doubt the 'pure well of Aussie beauty' will be poisoned by the Vegas vibe easily. I expect most of the models going will look around in wonder at how horrible over-made-up the non-AW-models/stars are ;-)

To the models concerned; I fully recommend NOT dressing in any form of high-heel during convention days since you'll be standing most of the time on them from 09.30-18.30 at the minimum (for four days straight). Hmm.. that sounds like hard work, make sure you do plenty besides the convention itself to relax

I thought inter-state flying was pretty much free in the USA ? There ARE cheap hotels ($150-$200 range), just outside the main strip zone. You don't need any other transport, the airport (McCarran) is pretty much ON the strip ;-).

I do seem to recall at least one forum poster who lives on/near the strip (busy neighbourhood;-).

wow. that sounds like fun, for AW crew and fans alike. I hope you get a chance to explore the area around Las Vegas - try Red Rock Canyon and/or Death Valley, which provide awesome scenery (and would be an interesting spot for a shoot as well). Worth the drive, just remember to drive on the right!

However it would be quite nice to know a bit more about the aims of this trip cos I still feel a little bit nervous about why suddenly AW wants to be at an event like this along with bangbus.com etc. Particularly as girlsoutwest.com is also attending, it seems Aussie amateur sites have a sudden clamour to be involved.

I'm going to leave the celebration, backlash, counterbacklash, speculation, paranoia, counterparanoia and countercounterbacklash re: the conference attendance well alone, but I though this seemed like the apposite place to comment on how spectacular the three teaser pics of the Queensland shoots (two on the news page, one in this thread) look. Especially looking forward to the sandbar pictures.

Do you really think that members who can make it to the convention will in any way lord it over those who don't? We are one of the most civil cyber-groups on the planet; I think there will be nothing but gratitude and good cheer. I am a little jealous, yes, but it's not gonna spoil my day. I think folks will tell lots of interesting stories about the AW team encountering "the other side", and vice versa. If this move encourages other producers to seek out natural, happy models and treat them respectfully, I am all for it.

Meeting other adult entertainment distributors will allow AW's products to be available to new audiences. Again, sounds good to me.
