    I love sex

    Hi all,

I don't know where they find the time but certain groups within Australia are working hard to give our industry a rotten name. I think it's important we try and balance up the argument a bit. Check out this link for more info:

yah, be great if everyone could do their bit, help make life easier for us here in Oz, by using that site to send a letter to the gummint. The Family First party have quite an advanced system for harnessing their folks and lobbying their local reps, so now the industry has they own system.

Whoa, is there really a serious risk of a *ban* on porn in Oz? Police raiding people's houses looking for Abby videos? Yikes. I'd be interested to read articles anyone has relating to this debate.

Grrr!! I hate these crazy "anti-sex" groups....
acting like sex is such a horrible thing. so what if adult material happens to get into the hands of children, nudity and sex is not a crime...it doesnt corrupt children.

Well now that's debatable... without a adult there to put pornography into context for children it can be a harmful thing (though even then it's not the best idea), though AW content is obviously much less, erm, harmful than most others... Anyway, agree with the first line, these damn groups... If they don't like something then they should just stay away from it, what right do they have to try and take it away from the rest of us?

Here in the US we have a separation of church and state law that makes it hard for the bible thumpers from imposing their beliefs on everyone. With the exception of child porn, rape and violet action against both women and men the political system pays little attention to the bible thumpers. (and this coming from a preachers son.)

Well there is more but I'll shut up for now.

Pornography is one of the worst problems facing the nation?!! Amazing how these people can harp on about this while happily ignoring the real problems! But then it's just a part of their overall right wing religious agenda. These are the same people who will attack gay and lesbian rights (for example) as they try to impose on us their beliefs about how we should all live our lives. We need to stand up to them at every opportunity - so everyone should sign the letter and pass on the link

Question regarding adult DVD's. Am I as an Australian able to legally purchase AW DVD's from this site or is that against the law?

bloods, the AW DVD's aren't sold in Oz so as not to embarrass the models, who are amateurs afterall. I don't think there are any legal restrictions - just the ethical dilemma.

Part of the reason yeah, not that it matters that much it's easy enough ordering US dvds from Australia. You did read the interview with Abby and Garion didn't you (forum thread here, yes it's a recent interview - not the old one)?

Abby: We don't actually market our DVD stuff here in Australia at all. Because our models are amateur, they don't want to have to deal with being famous in their suburb for all the wrong reasons. Our models are proud of what they do, but it's not the only thing they do in their lives; so we try to keep it on the lamb by not selling our stuff here in Australia.
I'll grant you that Australia (like the UK, such coincidence) is a strange country to sell adult stuff in. So it's easier to avoid that problem all together and keep models happy I always wonder about the motivations of such anti-sex groups, some might truly believe they're saving mankind. Others are prolly just jealous

Last I heard states were fairly seperate entities in Australia and the Southern states didn't have the silly stop-sex plans that much? (well except for the now famous anti-porn-software which was hack by a 16-year old in a couple of minutes or so, hehe..)

I have notice that the great Religious leaders did not rant and rage against all sex.
It was the small minded minions who followed them.
In England some of these small minded ignoramuses have been complaining about 13 year old schoolkids being taught Shakespear because of a few mildly sexual references.
We also had the most Ridiculous zealot of them all: Bowdler, who published a censored version of the Bible.
In Contrast all Christ & Moses taught about sex was, when married, stick to your own spouse. Islam is stricter, but even their the more horrible strictures in Shariah law do not have their foundation in the Q'oran, but in pronouncement of later lesser clerics.
Those who rail against sex or want to ban all pleasures are not following the teachings of the great religious leaders, and, whilst many are sincere if mistaken, others use it as a smokescreen, or a diversionary tactic from real evils.

Actually, I believe legal protection of pornography here in the U.S. has more to do with the free speech clause of the Constitution than the separation of church and state. Especially since some of the most vocal anti-porn people here are non-religious groups on the left. But if anyone is interested, here's the free-speech legal arguments. If porn were somehow banned in Oz, we'd welcome all the Abby girls with open arms here!

Anyway, this is about Oz, so I'll shut up.

Although NZ doesn't (AFAIK) have an adult industry comparable with that of Australia, the anti-sex propaganda of the religious right in Oz has its counterparts here, and influences from Oz certainly make themselves felt here (and elsewhere in Oceania), so I'm concerned. But as someone living outside Oz, I rather doubt whether I would be seen as having legitimate grounds to write letters to Australian politicians about anything that could be classed as an internal Australian matter.

Hey Luxman, I was just repeating what I got from the interview. I guess the real reason is cost - it's just not worth the expense of getting dvd's rated for the small number that would be sold here. Rating them wouldn't be a problem - they'd get an X or R because of content and rightly so. Presumably there'd be no problems in Aussies purchasing the dvd's from an overseas distributor, if there is one?

I just noticed this story today about an art exhibition of erotic art in London. Some of the exhibits are 2000 years old but is it art or pornography?

I'm not even a citizen (shhh! i will be one day) but I've written to the politicians too. Took less than 1 minute!

Oh, and (perhaps) unlike in the US, in Australia an email has politically identical weight as a physical letter. So there! Go do your duty, for me, for Penny, for all the other models and members and abbyfans and general porn supports and just for the love of sex!

Knowing nothing about Oz politics, but how likely is it politicians will listen to those anti-sex-emails at all?

Besides isn't lack of water a FAAAAAAR more urgent problem then some people being jealous of not getting sex ?

Don't wish to break the board rules on "politics" or "religion" but it remains a crime to sell dildos in Texas (!!) and numerous US Tstates have so-called "anti-sodomy" laws on the statute books (although judicial rulings have declared the laws unconstitutional).

Viewed from Europe (even fuddy duddy Britain) fundamentalist "Christians" (note the use of inverted commas) seem to have a very strident input into US politics in a way they simply don't in most of Europe. A number of things I've read re: Australian politics in recent years suggest they also have an influence far in excess of their numbers in parts of Australia.

    religions?

personally, i don't think that any specific religion or denomination is immovable ( IMMOVABLE?? what am i trying to say? also where is the strikethrough. if ever anyone needed it...)

the members of these groups cannot be rightfully blamed.they do a lot of good, as any organized group based on charitable moral principles does.

i think there are people everywhere who are lobbying anti-'porn' and 'pro' who the hell knows what. it's a good strong lobby. they are self-righteous. they are guilt-ridden about their secret desires and wishes. they have sticky copies of old Hustlers under the mattress, in the springs of the mattress where they think 'the wife' (a hideous term, i think) doesn't clean, but ha, she does and she sneaks her reading while he is at work, grappling with his guilt by being mean to his underlings.

they have sticks up their asses. they will break in two one day. rigidity always shatters....

porn lobbies may not have a public chance against them. who in the general public wants to come up on the side of the porn people? el shocko. but quietly, insidiously, and legally, equality shall reign. nobody sez the stick people must read/view porn. they do because they want to. they love guilt. they are idiots.

What about non-australian members? Are the mails screened and the names checked against inhabitants lists (or other means of knowing who lives where) or could we simply select a state/territory, insert a name and email adress and do our duty? If so... I've got several adresses *g*

I am sure. The article I posted a link to is well sourced - it includes a link to the actual statute itself at the Texas Legislature's own website and to various media reports re: prosecutions under this law. I have read about this in several other reliable media too.

You are right about the theoretical unreliability of Wikipedia, but if the article contains a variety of independent sources and/or references then you know that said homework has been done.

Weird as it may sound to you and me, but there appearantly ARE indeed people who'd prefer their teenager to have gun instead of a dildo.
