I have a question that I think is appropriate here. The members that are interested in going have expressed an interest in meeting up to meet each other. We're having a hard time coordinating this due to the somewhat anonymous nature of the boards, which is expected and understood to be necessary, generally. However, with this event, this anonymity seems to be a bit of a hinderance. I have read thru the General Help FAQ and Site Info and Privacy Policy and while I see we can't post pics of a personal nature, it says nothing of personal info. I also know that in the User CP area, there are places to put contact info.
My question is simply, do you (AW) have issues with us posting anything personal, especially an email address, either on the boards or in the User CP area? I certainly don't want to break any rules and I'm not asking for AW to help in facilitating our meetups as you obviously have no obligation or time to do so. I just want to understand what we can do.
I have had several thoughts:
1) post a message in the mundane chat thread giving instructions for posting to a Non-AW site (i.e. a Yahoo Group set up by one of the members strictly for AW AEE meetups of members during the show and while in Vegas) so that anyone interested and willing could do so.
2) Can we use the User CP area to post an email address we might want to give out, (with free email accounts so easy to get now, a "temporary" email account to Yahoo wouldn't be hard for people to get set up).
3) Maybe post a poll saying "are you going, yes, no, maybe" and then AW could gather the interested members and send an email to any that say "yes" or "maybe" with other email addresses of "yes" or "maybe" members. This poll would of course be worded so that its understood that by answering yes or maybe you AGREE to share your email info for this purpose only. The poll could close, say a week before the show, and the email sent once to avoid any significant work on AW staff part.
Anyhow, if any of these make sense or are allowed, that would be awesome. If not, or if they break the rules, that is fine. We will make do, as we are very happy to be part of AW and I, at least, am simply happy to have the opportunity we do have.
Thanks for the time on this question.
