is porn in a graveyard in poor taste?

Without naming the website - I'm pretty sure everyone will work out which one it is - today I saw a preview video of upcoming attractions on one of your competitors, and it featured a video in which a model is seen near masturbating and posing erotically in a graveyard, not only that but she is climbing onto gravestones to do so. Not even a Victorian cemetery either, plenty of the headstones seen on the video look recent, with clean marble etc.

I don't know what everyone else thinks, but I'm really shocked and disappointed. I can't possibly believe how anyone on the website could think it was a good idea. I thought about complaining directly, but I'm a 'now and then' subscriber and am not a subscriber currently. It may make me think twice about subscribing again, though. I just think it's in shocking taste. I'm not necessarily focussing on the porn aspect - there was a film made recently in which an Argentine athlete was seen doing step-ups on a British war memorial in the Falklands... clearly this *was* meant to cause offence, and it did.

I don't know what the intention of the porn site is, but for me, it causes equal offence. I didn't focus on the model at all, I thought it was a sick idea. Cemeteries and memorials should ALWAYS be places for quiet reflection and subdued behaviour, IMO.

What's the opinion here? Am I out of step, and does anyone think I should complain to the website directly?

Firstly, Chico, I believe you're perfectly fine here in voicing your opinion on the other website and your recent experience with it. I do agree with you that such a scenario as what you've described, wouldn't be my cup of tea either and I also agree with you that, all around, such a scenario is indeed in very bad taste. This is also good feedback and insight for AW admins to be listening to.

Granted, there are fetishes out there and some of them, like sex in a graveyard, are sought out by certain individuals thereby supporting some sort of market for it and you can bet some porn sites that are always experimenting with new things to test the waters and discover the results, but I'm a believer that the site admins who created and presented that offending scenario deserve your honest feedback. If it were me you bet I would be telling them what I think, especially if I had previously had a subscription with them. If the site admans actually value their subscribers and would like to encourage a previous customer such as yourself to come back and reactivate your membership with them, they will listen astutely to customer and member feedback, or at least they'd be better to listen.

On the otherhand you can merely stay with Abbywinters for the classiest and finest Adult entertainment and leave that other site to wallow away in its own shortcomings. If they keep it up they will eventually reap their ultimate fate.

I wonder if it is an actual graveyard or one purpose-build for the shoot. If the former, that would be way out of line in my opinion. If it's purpose build (thus fake) it still would be in bad taste but wouldn't harm anyone. That'd be how vampire movies and such are shot. I don't expect to ever understand some fetishes or setups, this one included

Come to think of it, it's prolly a Halloween themed scene as that's coming up soonish. Graveyards and other spooky stuff is to be expected then.

It also sounds like the site making an easy target of itself for authorities or people opposed to sex on the internet in any form, just saying.

I second wolfy's suggestion to focus on the good and just stay at AW

I have seen photo shoots (normally non-nude) in graveyards that look very artistic and effective. However a porn video, I totally agree is overstepping the mark of good taste in my opinion. I think you should send a complaint to the website concerned and voice your opinions you mentioned here although I don't think it would make the slightest difference and you might get the standard website reply... "We cater for many different tastes and can't please everyone all the time so if you don't like a particular shoot don't watch it. There will be other shoots that you may like". Or something to that effect.

But then again if enough people would happen to make common complaint against that site that they have overstepped the boundries of good taste then that might make a difference.

No, it was definitely a real graveyard, the headstones were a mixture of very old stone with moss on them, and rather new marble with gold leaf inscription. Some of the graves -I'm pretty sure - had recently left flowers on them (I was a bit shocked seeing the video so I didn't take it all in, and I have no intention of watching it again). The shoot was done in daylight, maybe it was Sunday morning or something, but can you imagine if someone has recently been bereaved, and went to visit their loved one's grave at an odd time for comfort, and there was a model climbing all over it? It doesn't bear thinking about.

It also says something about what this website might think about the people who enjoy erotic shoots/porn - it's like they don't credit us with any humanity or decency. It really isn't any different to football hooligans who chant during a minute's silence for a recently died player or manager for an opposing team. It shows a lack of respect, and I feel insulted that this website thinks I would be the kind of person who would be okay with such a lack of respect, simply by going to their web address.

Having thought about it, I don't think I will complain, I will just vote with my credit card and not subscribe again. Which is a shame because of the lovely girls who have modelled for the site and will do so in the future, but I feel very angry and disappointed about the video. I'm glad that other people agree with me. It seems that those of us who like porn are cast as somehow deviant by other members of society, but we have the same decency and humanity as everyone else, and it is not a case of 'everything is okay for freedom of speech and action'. Everything is quite clearly not okay, but if they want to continue this way, they haven't broken any laws I guess, so it's best to leave them to it and not go there again.

This is an interesting discussion. I can see how, done with sufficient finesse and intelligence, an erotic nude woman in a graveyard could be truly artistic. I haven't seen the photos in question, so I can't comment, but I strongly suspect that they fall short of that achievement by a long shot. In a nutshell, I find the idea of challenging perceptions about death interesting, as well as highlighting the juxtaposition between life (sex, birth, etc) and death. But that being said, I don't think a porn site is the place for such an ambitious project, and I again have my doubts that that's what it was aiming for. There is that ham-fisted "shock value" approach, which can admittedly be powerful, but only when it jars something which needs to be jarred. (Case in point: Ai Weiwei smashing an ancient Han dynasty urn. http://dfuse.in/wp-content/uploads/2...ynasty-Urn.jpg ) I also find myself remembering a certain bit of Hysterical Literature featuring the delectable Stoya, during which she winds up being brought to orgasm whilst reading out a very macabre passage, indeed.

Artistic potential aside, I don't think it would excuse the use of a real graveyard, as that is thoroughly disrespectful to people who are genuinely mourning, especially considering the newer grave stones. Pfui. It does seem that Abbyland is a nice safe haven where weird shit like that doesn't happen... though apparently, pubic hair is still controversial enough to be avant garde!

Yeah, in a nut shell, as far as the majority is concerned, sex and the cemetery just don't mix. The cemetery is a sacred place, a place to reflect and meditate. Not the ideal location to unleash those raging hormones , unless one is in a drunken stupor or drug induced state of mind.

I'm not really religious so it doesn't really bother me, although I think it would be tasteless if they were filming this while people were there visiting their loved ones, but I don't think they did that in this instance. Still, you can never tell with Annie... She loves to push boundaries.

Marigold did a really nice shoot for IFM in front of a tombstone (or was it a set?) once and I thought it was really erotic. I think if you dug around enough on ISM you could find a set shot in a cemetery.

I have to agree to that. I would be shocked too but not sickened. I think there is way sicker stuff, obviously child porn, bestiality and necrophilia is really sickest. I also think BDSM is sick but I can understand some people are into it.

THis makes me remember a scene from the movie "Return of the Living Dead" where the actress Linnea Quigley does a strip-tease dance in a Cemetery. Given that it was probably a film setting I thought it was erotic.

Perhaps if the admins of that offending site would discover the contents of this thread discussion...

Ah, Linnea Quiqley. I once had lunch with Linnea. A good friend of mine in L.A. was a publicist, so I was able to do lunch with a few of these Scream Queens.

a youthful or sexual challenge to death, likely not to the deceased
