a few years ago, we trialled a webcam plugin from a third party provider - they give us their cam feeds, and we get a split of the revenue. It made some money, but the models on the cams were not very in-line with the abbywinters.com models (although, four cam models had done AW shoots). We stopped this trial after a few months.
We've been wanting to get back in to cams, but doing it our way, with our models. The cams providers refuse to licence us their technology for this (whihc has always seemed weird to me), so we have developed our own. We're releasing it in beta mode, and it's very basic (what we call internally a "minimum viable product"). We want to see what you think of it, then over time, we'll improve it.
The basic version (stage 1) will have a model in a "room", where members can chat with her (like in an instant message window), watch her video stream, and hear her. She can see the chat feed, what people are typing. We don't have one-on-one "private rooms" yet (we likely will int he future), where members pay-per-minute to be with a model. The model gets a larger share of the money paid, and we get the remainder (this is our plan - we have not decided fully yet).
Stage 1 will be free - for now - for members who meet some criteria:
This covers a huge majority of our customer base. Those it does not cover, will not have access to cams, until they do meet the criteria. We expect to have a cam session for one hour a week initially.
We have tested the camming software we have made extensively, but we have no idea how it'll work in the real-world, so we'll be doing some basic tests first, perhaps just chatting with me (clothes on, promise!). Once we're confident it's working well, we'll trial it with a model. We have some leads on models who are interested, and I am sure you will not be disappointed.
So, that's an overview. Here's the place to discuss it!
