    Video Compromise

    Hi,

I don't know much about video quality but I have a problem/request. The MPEG videos look great but the files are huge. The MP4 files are reasonably sized but unwatchably muddy on my late 2013 Macbook Pro using VLC. Is there a compromise encoding scheme that would yield a watchable video whose file size isn't seven times greater?

Not a big deal. Maybe I just need a better pornograph.

The mp4 files should be what you want. You do download them and then watch from disk, right?

Not sure why VLC would be bad with mp4/SQ on a 2013 system, are all shoot blocky or just outdoor ones? Try a fully indoor solo shoot first, those should be easiest to view ok on lower filesize (bitrate). If those are still bad try another videoplayer.

I too have had problems playing back downloaded videos (hd version) on a laptop running windows 10 even when using VLC, so I searched the net and found a great media player called Potplayer which as of now has played back all downloaded videos with no problems, unfortunately it appears from their website that it only works with Windows and not Mac which is a shame, so my advice is keep searching the net, I'm sure something will help with your problem.

Yes, downloaded video. As for indoor/outdoor I understand your logic (more differences per frame to track outdoors). Maybe I just need to bring up a specific example, as I've gone back and noticed that many MP4 videos look just fine regardless of location.

Google is still my friend, right?
