    HMM:

Sort of limited on what I can and can't say...however, I will say this much...36, married to a wonderfully open-minded woman who is my dream come true. I administer a medium sized infrastructure for a research facility (can't really say more than that). I live in the US, traveled around the US quite a bit, and a little over seas...but the land down under is still at the top of my list of places to visit and I haven't been able to get there yet, but I'm working on it.

We have something in common! I too have been struggling with Australian as a Second Language. Blimey it's difficult.

Hi, there, Zim! What on earth is the meaning of that nickname? Zimmer = room?

Oh, yeah, PPP, we've bumped heads around the forums already, haven't we.

I agree with you about Montreal. Visited it last summer, beautiful place. My son wants to go to McGill University, we'll see how that works out. It's my understanding that in winter everything moves indoors and underground.

I hope he makes it, I stayed there last summer (on the cheap). Its in a great location. To me Montreal doesn't feel 'French' or 'European', but it does feel international, which is what I like about the place. It has a history as North America's den of iniquity, the vestige of which is all those strip joints with 'Danseuses Nues' written in French and 'US Dollars accepted here' in English!

You're quite right, Montreal is International, we have people that immigrated from all over the world and that are speaking their own language. We could call Montreal "La Tour de Babel".

And Arsby, McGill University has a good reputation, and it's only about 6 to 7 hours (???) drive from Philadelphia.

I've recently bought, but not yet started reading, 'City Unique', William Weintraub's account of his hometown in the 40s and 50s. I was there last June and enjoyed the feel of the place. The Francofolies music festival was on (look for 'peepingpom' on YouTube and you'll see a short video I uploaded), the local Brazilians were out on the streets for the soccer world cup and St Laurent was heaving for the Friday before the holiday weekend. I must visit again ...

I can't believe I haven't come across this thread before- it's great to get an insight to what all you members are like n YOUR interests too, considering most of the threads are about us girls here on AW! I'm so impressed by many of you who learn other languages as well as English- How do you find it? IS it difficult for you all too? Just asking to get another person's opinion on learning LOTE or ASL considering I'm learning Indonesian n although it's not that difficult a language, it's still a LOT of work!
I also can't get over the amount of travel some of you have done... I've visitea a few places but crikey, you guys have been to HEAPS of countries! Have so got the travel bug at the mo, but unfortunately not the funds to go along with it. Hopefully might go next year sometime when the homework has settled... any recommendations?
Btw, after all my qns, if any of you have some for me- fire away! xoxo

Hiya Chloe. Is Indonesian really not that difficult? I don't think I've ever heard a single word of it. Do a lot of people in Australia learn that language? Here in the US it's either French or Spanish, if anything.

What I like is to start something that at first is complete gibberish and then bit by bit it becomes more comprehensible.

Europe would be my first recommendation - if you go to the US, San Francisco, DC, New York and Boston. Austin is supposed to be one of our most fun cities although I've never been there.

Hey there Hauskatavata! Hmmm, it's not that difficult, especially when compared to something like Japanese. Of course learning a foreign language always has some kind of difficulty element to it, but because I'm so into it, I find it comes easily (and certainly with lots of study!) There's not a lot of people, I don't think anyway, who learn Indonesian... I only began learning it because it was offered at my high school... but then I got addicted- I just HAD to learn more!
I totally agree with you... watching how a language unfolds by beginning like "absolute gibberish" as you said and then evolving into a comprehensible language- it's just amazing!
I would love to visit both Europe and America, though will have to save up lots of cashish first (which is kind of difficult at the moment since I can only work part time with my studies!) Also, after talking with Tango, Vegas would definately be up there on my places to visit- along with NY! (Can't get enough of those broadway musicals!)
I really hope you're able to achieve your goal and become a teacher in Europe... any ideas of which country you'll start off in first???

Dude, don't they pay you anything to take part on this site? You must be able to get Abby Winters to sponsor a trip overseas for you, think of the stories you could tell the adoring public when you got back.

Vegas is so far over the top, it's amazing. I've only been there incidentally since my grandparents live there. I wish I could have gone in the days of Frank Sinatra, the Vegas of Godfather/Casino legend. Broadway makes you feel sophisticated, but the Cirque du Soleil show I saw in vegas had a delicious extravagance you won't find in New York. American middle-aged couples have dropped a lot of quarters in those slot machines, and it shows! It's good that you know someone there... you should go with a lot of friends, and a lot of money.

Thanks for the good wishes... I went to Ukraine a few years ago, to visit my grandfather's village. I don't know what country I want to go to, only that I don't want to spend my whole life all in one place. I'm torn between going back to the "old country" and heading off someplace completely new.

I'll have to look up your thread so I don't derail this one... cheers!

Sure they do, though after paying my rent, bills and everything else, it leaves little cash left for anything else! Oh well, at the end of this year I'll be able to find some full time work and finally go travelling again!!!

ALl this talk of overseas is making me want to travel again! Would still visit NY just to experience the busy lifestyle and all the shopping, tho I reckon LV is my type of place- lots of nightlife and shows/ concerts on constantly! Which Cirque Du Soleil shoe did you go to see? Was it either Quiddam or Varekai? I saw those two when they visited Australia and I just absolutely loved them! I reckon if I went would definately have to drop a dollar or two into the slots just to give it a go, despite me not being a huge gambler!

I think that's great that you want to travel the world... it's something that's very important to me also, though I'll still definately be based here in Australia. What was the Ukraine like to visit? Does your grandfather still live there or has he since moved? Instead of being torn between the two, why don't you just visit one for a while and then once you're ready to move on, visit the newer countries? That way, you can have the best of both worlds! I really do hope you're able to find work as a teacher whilst on your travels, cos I know that lots of countries are in short supply and need good teachers (my friend has just recently come back from teaching over there for the last 6years!)
Would love it if you popped by sometime n visited me on my thread!

I've traveled across the U.S. doing performance poetry.

I get to answer all sorts of bizarre/logical/stupid questions people have about video games, heh.

You do get the meaning, matchless. It is strange. My long sexual abstinence was not only bad but also something I found enormously embarrassing. I had actually not told anyone before, when I wrote about it in my presentation here. And then just a few weeks later I meet this girl.

Why AW: love the girl-next-door approach and the whole philosophy of Abby, especially after spending 4 years in Miami where it is all about the opposite

Currently I reside in Germany, where I also grew up. The last 4 years, however, I lived and worked in the US of A and in a couple of months from now I will move to Norway or the Netherlands for a new job (most likely the latter). I do hope to be able to travel to and maybe even work for some time in Canada, Asia, and Australia.

I noticed that I passed 1500 posts on AW forums..........well everyone else seems to advertise when they reach a milestone so I thought I'd give it a go. Even if a lot of what I have posted in my time here seems like drivel, hopefully it is apparent that I try to be as honest as possible. That I love chatting to the lovely models and the majority of the members who post here and who are nice and respectful folks. It enriches the AW experience to be able to do so and I've only reached this landmark thanks to you guys and girls being so cool.

                                                        That concludes my speech.

                                                              Hello all. IIIIIttttttt'sssss Me HOORAY!

Thought it was about time I introduced myself.

My IRL name is Matt, however I've been going by Cyber Omega or just Omega since I started on the net all those years ago. I even have an Omega tattooed on my upper right arm.

I'm 26 (how in the hell did that happen?!?!!?!)

I'm from just outside London in the Uk. (Place called Twickenham).

I'm a computer technician. I fix, repair, upgrade, build from scratch, troubleshoot, network and all sorts of other stuff.

I am really enjoying AW and I'm "enjoying" myself a lot more recently than I have in a little while.

Apart from AW my hobbies include: reading (Authors: Terry Pratchett, Anne Rice are my faves but I read a lot of others too), movies (comedy, sci-fi, fantasy), music (most listened to recently: Disturbed, AC DC, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Soil and so many others).

So basically in conclusion I'm a geek, but that's not all I am.

Thinking of moving out of the Uk in time, it's getting a more difficult place to live in day by day. Australia is on my short list (not just because of AW - honest ).

                                                              Anything else look on: www.myspace.com/cyberomega
I'll have to add you as a friend first, I've had to make my profile private cos of a couple of problems.

If you do add me swing me a msg too, just let me know who you are.

That's it for now. See you all later.
