Thanks for the compliments on my pictures. I think taking pictures is an easier way to show whats going on in my life rather than just writing about it. I have trouble writing about things these days, the words just don't come like they used to. When I was younger I used to write lots of stories and poems, some of which were published in anthologies and won contests and stuff. But nowadays, I just use my camera to tell my stories and I paint and sometimes I wish my words would come back to me.

Recently I finished a Carlos Castenada book called The Teachings of Don Juan. I felt like it was a boring and interesting book at the same time. I felt when I was reading it, that although the book was about an interesting subject, shamanism, the student (Carlos) was not investigating it to his full ability and kept asking alot of "white" questions, which in turn made it boring. I kind of felt like he wasn't leaving his logical mindframe enough to fully explore the subject.

My favorite parts are the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz, San Francisco (I was born there after all), Humboldt Country (for herbal reasons ) and Lake Tahoe because I used to swim there all the time as a kid. "White" questions probably wasn't a very appropriate way of putting it.

What I meant was a reference to how white people are in general these days compared to other indigenous tribes, we're disconnected from our land, ourselves our spirituality and our humanness. Have you read the book? In it Carlos has a hard time interacting with the shaman on his level and learning because he cant' leave behind his "logical" mentality to comprehend what the shaman is trying to teach him.

But yeah, maybe white wasn't the best way of putting it, but I find political correctness a hard thing to maintain when you're lazily trying to convey an idea.

Actually I do understand what you mean, and I think the author is taking the easy way out if he is blaming his "whiteness" on being unable to understand. More than anything perhaps it is more "Western Culture" and its ideals. I do feel however that if we make an effort we all can begin to understand other cultures, despite our cultural predispositions. To say that its impossible to understand is a cop out in my opinion. I haven't read the book, but right now I should get my butt in gear and read more of Warrior Women. I hate it when I am reading three books at once. I must agree that the jellyfish exhibit does indeed give of an aura of a light-show. Any particular songs come to mind when you think about the exhibit? My best advice to you is to make sure you and your partner talk about the experience beforehand, what you would like to get out of it, your limitations, insecurities and any other possible issues that may come up.
