    A little make-up sneaking in??

I had been thinking some eyeliner or lash thickener, (is that what it's called?), had been making the occasional appearance but, when I had a good look at the lovely Rebecca D, I knew I wasn't imagining!

Personally, I don't really have any objection at all to a bit of light eye make-up if it makes the models feel more beautiful and "secure". I know women enough to understand that. Too, with the invasion of "body art", it's surely a bit hard to ask a model to do without anything at all on face. Still, lines must be drawn and I wonder if Abby and company are "testing the waters", etc. or what's up!

More likely a little make-up was overlooked, it's still policy to shoot models without any make-up as far as I know. Heck, I had to look pretty close to notice any make-up. Not a bad thing though, to look at Rebecca again.. not by any means

Personally I find makeup clumpy and difficult ... but if one is used to wearing it daily, sometimes one feels more naked without makeup on than without clothes on, if that makes sense. I have friends who tell me this, at any rate and so who knows? maybe it helps push the confidence levels, and a model's behaviour from 'awkward' to 'natural'!

ahem. yall, i am a makeup expert, did professional makeup at one point, so i recognize makeup when i see it.

and here is the straight poop:

foundation: that all over face goo. rarely if ever. i noticed that annabella had it in her first shoot, but pics since then, no.

face powder: used to matte out oily skin. occasionally, like maybe 4 times since i have been here.

photographic highlighting: used regularly. this is shimmery pale stuff used to offset shadows or 'bring out' deep set eyes, etc. used regularly for photos and sometimes for vids. in my opinion, does not count as makeup.

contouring: that dark stuff, like bronzer or blusher, used to emphasize bone structure. never.

lip color: lip gloss is very common, usually shimmery and very pretty, natural colors. used to keep lips moisturized and to add a little color. doesn't really count as makeup, in my opinion. more like chapstick.

eyelash color/mascara: sometimes used by models but not usually. it darkens lashes right down to the usually-light tips. for portrait-type pics, used more. for vids, rarely, would smear all over. also looks very fake close up.

eye shadow: occasionally but not an obvious color. usually a silvery color or a champagne color. on eyelids, to emphasize eyes.

eye liner: more than you'd think. liner really helps to emphasize eyes and all it takes is a really thin amount, like maybe on the upper lids right smack against the lashes, on the outer corner. the porn star liner is usually very thick and all the way around, plus fakes added (NEVER seen here). our girlies never do that.

cheek color: sometimes a little rosey color but rarely. young girls don't need color.

eyebrows. almost never. i have been debating with myself for two years whether gilian, who is one of my very fave gorgeous models, uses a tiny amount of auburn pencil on her brows. the hair is naturally very pale blonde, common with redheads. hardly matters, she is such a knockout.

          so here are the answers.

some of the girlies use a little makeup but for enhancement only and not really in the catagory of 'makeup'. the vast majority do not use a single thing on their pretty lil' faces. some photographers use highlighting, which is a professional thing and it is done VERY well. no one would notice but me, most likely.

            Most informative dancer!

If you need two years to debate if any model used make-up on her shoot, I'd say the question ain't worth it? Just enjoy the shoots, don't go looking for tiny tiny things that could ruin said enjoyment.

You're pretty versatile btw, make-up and medical expert. Good to have you around!

you are most correct, dear frans. i won't allow anything to get in the way of feasting my eyes on gilian. she is
THE TITS to me! gorgeous pretty sexy, uh, well, you know.

i have one of these brains that pretty much runs fullsteam 24/7, so there are all kinds of things in there that i only notice occasionally...

yeah, i am multitalented...you got any problems? just let me know. i love being nosy, too!!!

Wow, dancer, I'm starting to think you've been a bit of a Jill of all trades...

But yes, I have noticed a few times that the girl was wearing mascara, and even though I'm really not into make-up, I can dig that. It really works in the pictures I've seen, and actually emphasises the cleanness of the rest of the model's face, in my humble opinion.

And I know for a fact that one model (my lips are sealed :-D) I know has managed to sneak past the check with foundation on... but it's very subtle, I never noticed it when she was wearing it in my presence, though it does make a difference.

Thanks to Dancer for the insight.

I'm no expert but I have always suspected that some make-up has been used on shoots. I don't have any problems with that, I just think that the emphasis should be on 'natural looking girls' where make-up may be used to enhance a natural look, if that makes sense.

another thing: i agree with frans when he mentioned 'leftover makeup'. when makeup is removed there is always a little which remains and which, btw, looks great.

if all women would put on makeup and then take off most of it, makeup would always look terrific.

                    hope this makes sense.

                    d.

and loiner, i agree with you and immie: some people look more natural with makeup than without.

Oh come on guys i dont think a little bit of make up is that bad, i mean a little bit of eyeliner and foundation isnt that bad But i know Abbey still tells us that we're not allowed to have makeup. But its not like these girls are all dolled up and plastic they're still natrual. If thats what the girls are used to wearing all the time then why ask them to take it off if you're wanting to see an insight into who they are??

i know we have all been given permission to wear mascara, as it open our eyes up to the camera. i know of a few girls who wear it for shoots, including myself! as long as it is waterproof! we had a wee bit of an accident on the raft building shoot where one of the girls didnt wear waterproof mascara and she ended up with panda eyes! (wont say who though!!!!!)

oh you know... if it's clear mascara, Juanita, sometimes it does have a lash thickening effect? give the poor guy a break after all, if he knew everything about all sorts of makeup then we'd be curious to know if he wears it himself, right? heh

You've got to be kidding Florida Rob. I can't tell if eyeliner was used or not. I'd need two pictures side by side to tell, one with no eyeliner and one with. I have so little experience seeing girls (or pics of girls with and without) that a guy like me would never be able to tell. Honestly, show me a closeup picture of a girl's face and I wouldn't have any idea what that face is supposed to look like with eyeliner/mascara as opposed to not wearing it. I never look or notice stuff like that. All of my life, makeup on a girl is something I never notice. If most of the shoots on this site were done with no makeup, then I don't know why any of the girls would ever use any in the first place, because they all look so beautiful without it. I mean, what is the point?

...Ahh, Laktor! (Did anyone ever inquire as to the source of your username?) It's not difficult to see if you look at some close-ups but, rather than to direct more apparently dangerous attention to any one model, let's be content to share views on the concept of the occasional light cosmetics kept in "strict check" and worry about any "problems" with such policy if and when it really arises.

As I mentioned to start with, it may be a bit something-or-other, to draw lines on no facial decoration while tatoo ink flows freely. Of course, it's easier to find naked-faced models than tatoo-less Aussie beauties, these days, apparently. So be it. Some are quite nice!

My vote is to keep away from the full make-up. No full eyes. We know all eyes can be made "breathtaking" with the right stuff on them. Probably leave the cheeks clean and uncovered. We all have zits. Within reason, they are part of beautiful youth with all that comes with it. If there's shoes with heels on, there had better be a good explanation, (like it's the fantasy shoot)!

Gosh, we've enjoyed our dolls tattooed, hair changing colors from shoot to shoot, preggers, with strings hanging out, peeing, , grimacing with intense orgasms. What's left? A little eyeliner?

I agree, I think make-up is good left elsewhere. I do use mascara myself, I think it helps bring out my eyes a bit, as for anything else I steer clear

i think it's mostly a comfort/confidence thing. Some girls have great long eye lashes but they're blonde or really light on the ends so u can only really see them with mascara. some girls have oily skin or it's a warm day and girls don't like looking shiny. or a girl with really beautiful eyes might want them to stand out just that little bit more etc etc. some girls just wear makeup all the time and they're so used to it that they feel much like themselves with makeup on. some girls really like makeup and putting it on. as long as it's just to enhance their natural beauty and not to cover it up then i don't see a problem.

i personally don't wear makeup unless it's a big occasion (ie a formal party or the like). i touch my face too much so it rubs off most of the time anyway or smudges which never looks good. and im kinda lazy so if i don't have to put on makeup then i won't. but i do understand why girls like it. and it's definitely been used sparingly on the occasions when it appears on this site.
