    Rolf Harris

I have been enjoying the "Best of Rolf Harris" CD.

I got it for "Sun Arise". One of my very favorites.

There is one song on there that I think I have heard with completely different words. It is a lullaby "Carra Barra Wirra Canna". Anybody know of the song and if there are other lyrics?

    Thanks, Spud

I think my parents have this record on vinyl ....!

I can only share two things with you. (As in, I don't know the answer to your question.)

    1. I learned the whole "Court of King Caractacus" song.

    2. I think, from memory, Alice Cooper also did a version of "Sun Arise". Google on the Love it to Death album and see if my memory is working ok.

      Hi Bigspud,
I am embarrassed for knowing this, but back in primary school days, we used to have a singalong with old australian songs; botany bay, wild colonial boy etc. So, reluctantly, here's the information you need... it's from a song called Carra Barra Wirra Canna.
There are so many much more worthy Australian bands and music now, I hope you give david bridie, alex lloyd, powderfinger, silverchair etc. a listen to as well. etc etc.
      But here is your request;

let's not ever speak of this again!

      Carra Barra Wirra Canna

There's a lake in south Australia, little lake with lovely name
And the story woven round it, from the piccaninnies came
Every night the native mothers croon this lovely lullaby,
Croon across the moonlit waters, to the star up in the sky

Carra Barra Wirra Canna, little star upon the lake
Guide me through the hours of darkness, keep me safely till I wake

Piccaninnies' heads are nodding, drowsy crooning fills the air.
Little eyes at last are closing, And the boat of dreams is there.
Guide my boat across the waters, Cross the waters still and deep,
Light me with your little candle, safely to the land of sleep

Carra Barra Wirra Canna, little star upon the lake
Guide me through the hours of darkness, keep me safely till I wake

Mikhail, I am amazed that you learned those words. Can you sing it as fast as Rolf?

I found Alice Cooper did it in 1971. That might be interesting to hear. Thanks.

I don't know Chief, he gave "Stairway To Heaven" all the respect it deserved.

                      wow, youse guys...

                      this is just amazing.

you hang around aw and you never know what neato things you'll learn.

my first night posting, i learned all about butoh dance, which is a type of avant garde japanese dance, directly connected to the war and the nuclear bombing over there. it was sleeting and i could hear ice faling while i watched these gorgeous old japanese men dance butoh into the night. there was a member, a dancer also, named danny, who taught me this stuff...

and now i get all this great stuff.

                      thank you, thank you.....

                      dancer

I have to point out here, that this is not really one of mr harris's paintings, but a cheeky and elaborate hoax.

Footnote : I'ed never actually heard Stairway to heaven until rolf covered it,so to me it is still the only version, wink, wink,
