    Lest we forget

    The tumult and the shouting dies;
    The Captains and the Kings depart:
    Still stands thine ancient sacrifice,
    An humble and a contrite heart.

    Lest we forget---lest we forget.!

    Rudyard Kipling

    Is the observation of Armistice Day increasing or decreasing elsewhere? For some reason in NZ it seems to be becoming more solemnly and more extensively observed with each passing year. Maybe in this intensely individualistic era the magnitude of the sacrifice is more awe inspiring than formerly?

      Bob,
      Increasing in the UK as well. The Royal British Legion started a trend with two minutes silence at 11:00 on the 11th about 4-5 years ago. It's really taken hold and now almost everyone stops what they're doing. BBC Radio also have 2 minutes silence at the same time
