    simonscans

okay, i know that abby recommends simonscans, and i signed up over there a couple of days ago. but one of their anti-fraud things is locking me out based on my ip address (i get "invalid ip address" from the address i always use -- can't change it). the login works -- i tested it once from school (and won't try again cuz i can get expelled for it). it's just that i doesn't like my home addy. i emailed simon (the only addy i could find) and haven't heard anything back.

so my question is this: how long should it take to get a response out of simon for customer service stuff like this? been two days so far.

i only ask here because i know some of yall also subscribe there, and since i can't access the site i can't go digging for other addresses or people, and maybe i've gotten spoiled by the fantastic responses to cust svc requests here at aw.

I have e'd simon this thread, I know he's busy, but two days is too long, IMO.

I don't really get the problem, tho... why has he locked you put based on your IP address?

the html return i get is "invalid ip address", produced by a script called sentry. i would guess it's an anti-hacker thing with a list of ip blocks in it that's out of date. it's possible that it's got a list of addresses that have been assigned to ISPs by ARIN (the North American IP registry), so you're supposed to be coming from one of those blocks, not from an ip in an "unassigned" block, but if it's out of date and the block i'm in is relatively new to my isp ... bingo. i know it's not personal because it happened on my very first login.

the only other thing i can think of is that i used a (valid but throw-away) yahoo.com email address for registration, because simon uses ccbill, which, as we both know, sells email addresses to spammers.

and thanks muchly for your help. yet more fantastic service.

SS and AW share the same sys admin, so i asked him to check it out for you - you may have gotten an e from him already?

I was a member of Simonscans a while ago (left because I just didn't have time to look at so much porn, but I have no complaints with the site's content). I had some problem - the details of which I can't recall but I think it was a login problem - Simon did take a couple of days to get back to me, but when he did get back he had added days to my account to make up for the lost access.

Second best service I've ever gotten from a porn site. (Guess who was first ).

Also much better customer service than I've gotten from most 'respectable' online businesses. (Amazon are terrible!!).
