    Hot-desking

There has recently been a spate of AW staff posting to the boards from each others' computers, and it always confuses some people. Is there a tech solution to this, e.g. a password or something that would allow staff to post under their own name from any desk, or even from home or on the road? Sorry to raise such a trivial point, but the site is now so close to perfection that tiny details stand out. Oh, while I'm nit-picking, here's an even more trivial one: when an individual thread is being viewed, the menus at the top of the screen diasappear - you have to go up one level to recover them.

I thought hot-desking only happened in the porno movies.

I agree with Philos' second nit about having to go up a level from the individual threads. Not a huge whopping fat big deal, but it would be nice.

The disappearing menus confound me. It only happens in Firefox, because in IE they display fine.

If you look at the source code, the menus are all right there, and the coding is exactly as it should be. Something that makes no sense is interfering.

I've learned to put up with the inconvenience--it's worth it, if only for the feeling that not all of my computing is Gates-driven. When I remember I use Firefox's tabbing feature when I leave the main page.

They all each have their own logins, of course. They just forget that they need to change it at each computer they're at, because it's normally a set and forget thing. Yesterday was an unusual example, because it was like musical chairs for a while.
