    Free advertising or stealing?

I just logged onto the newsgroups after a few days out of town on a business trip. Guess what I found in a.b.p.chimera? Abby's own model, beautiful Jasmin, numbers 1-30. The poster, a very prolific poster name of Pinky, was nice enough to leave on Abby's logo.

Actually, I think it's good advertising. What do the rest of you think.

      hi

No if you hang around in the newgroups long enough you will not get it all for free, is my most ardent wish, as I am sure you can understand. However, occasional small posts to news is what gets me customers, and that's what I need right now. I ask everyone who signs up where they heard about the site, and many of them (a huge majority) found the site cos of newsgroup posts (either those that I had made, or others).

There are several high volume groups where a websites' entire catalogue is posted in a day. These groups strike fear into most operators, myself included, but luckily the volume is so high, posts are not around for very long - usually under 24 hours, sometimes less than 12.

Those kind of posts hurt my business, tho some argue that "any publicity is good publicity", I disagree to an extent. Part of it is just that I created these pics from my heart, and it hurts to seem them bandied about so ppl with cable modems can claim credit for them.

Still, there's little I could do about it, even if I had the time, I don't have the skills to chase down usenet posters. I have not dealt with Pinky personally, but I do know he posts a heck of a lot of stuff, so I guess I should be thankful that he has not posted my whole site (chimera has posting limits, I think, so he may well have posted more of my stuff elsewhere).

So, Kumaraguy, you won't get it all for free in news, but if you do see posts anywhere (thumbnail sites, other pay sites, news, bulliten boards, and so on, I'd really like to know about it. I have terminated the account of a customer of mine who posted lots of my stuff to usenet a few months back. He insisted he was doing me a favour. Perhaps if he had posted a few pics from different series, he might have been, but posting totally complete series is going too far, IMO. I'll not hesiate to cancel accounts of anyone else I find abusing the service I provide, tho I'd like to think that there's not too many people who would.

Generally seems to be ppl who can get into a site for free that feel the need to post everything on it to news. Now I have introduced more stringent measures to catch hackers, there's a whole lot less of them coming in.

what I was suggesting in a tongue in cheek way was that I would have thought that the vast majority of ppl in the newsgroups were just after free stuff and would never contemplate paying for anything....And hey nice to see you here again Abby img tag disable, use attachment mgr/system to add images to postshttp://www.abbywinters.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif
