    Is the login page secure?

    Greetings,

I'm concerned that when I login to the AW site I don't see the lock symbol in my browser. I've tried both Firefox and Safari and still no lock symbol. Are my username and password encrypted?

    Thanks.

    HappyBoy,

Your username and password are not encrypted... but they don't need to be.

The padlock icon is displayed when SSL (a secure socket layer) is in force. This level of encryption is suitable for things like credit card transactions, but overkill for logins to a site like ours.

We transmit passwords by cleartext email, which is a greater risk than a non-SSL webpage... but it's also a pretty low risk. Especially if you pasword is used by someone else, we can very easily change it.

And I should say, that for credit card transactions - like you joining the site - we do use SSL.

        Thanks Abby

I guess I was worried about my info being intercepted in transit. I'll stop worrying and just enjoy your site.

        Thank you.
