I sometimes check Today's Posts under Quick Links to see a list of all the new posts and who has posted them. But it seems that I'm finding some new posts when I read a thread that are NOT listed under Today's Posts. I can tell because I check the date and time of the post, then look under Today's Posts and notice it's not there. Is it possible that the person who posted can use a personal setting of some sort to not allow their posts to appear under Today's Posts? If so, why would anyone bother to do that? An example would be Melinda's posts today in her thread, none of which appeared under Today's Posts. However, her post under Melinda Redux was listed. Thanks.

Question regarding "Today's Posts" under Quick Links

Hmmm...I can't believe no one with AW support has an answer to this. Oh well, I'll wait a while longer, but I find it weird.
Well, now I just noticed that Cleo's post in her own thread doesn't show up in Today's Posts too. So is it just perhaps the models who have something in their profiles that prevents their posts from showing up? Or maybe it works that way with anybody who starts a thread. If someone posts in a thread in which they started, then any future posts they do in that thread will not show up in Today's Posts? Is that it? I can't understand why this would be like that. It kind of makes the entire Today's Post thing kind of useless, doesn't it? I'm really very, very curious about this and I wish someone could shed some light on it. Thanks
This is driving me nuts....please, if someone can please answer this for me!!! In other words, I'm getting antsy...sorry folks!
Now I checked...Cleo's post in Althea's thread (at 5:12am) doesn't show up, but her post in Melita's thread IS there! So what in hell gives here????Last edited by laktor; 13 November 2007, 04:02 PM.

Am I missing something, Laktor?
When you do Quick Links/Todays Posts, it shows threads, not individual posts.
When I look at the threads that Cleo posted into today (by clicking on her name and hitting "see more posts by cleo), I see she posted into:
- domestic abuse
- cleo, im new
- first date sex
- new abby employee althea
- melita's thread.
All of them are listed under quick links/today's posts. I think that's the way it's supposed to work.

I experimented with it but thought that some one else may be able to shed some light for you.
Thanks Arsby!

Arsby, I thought it was supposed to show individual posts. So you are saying that it only shows the THREADS that had new posts today and then lists the last poster only? To find out what other posts that member posted in today, you have to click on their name and "see more posts"? I think Today's Posts would be more useful if it listed all individual posts today, not just threads because it would be useful (at least to me) to quickly find out all posts today by a particular person. This is because when I use this feature (Today's Posts) and a poster I am looking for DOES NOT have the last post in ANY thread, then their name won't show up using this feature and therefore I will NOT know if they have any posts for today. I would have to check every thread to see if they have any new posts since I last accessed the forum. Understand?

If you want to see recent posts by a particular poster, you have two ways to do it: 1) click into their name next to a post they've made, or 2) use advanced search "search by user name". Using the latter there's no need to "check every thread".

Sounds me to you would want to 'subscribe' to another member, so you'd get mail everyime they post a message That functionality ain't present in standard forum software though.
An url like this would however retrieve the posts a certain user named 'laktor' has posted for the last 24 hours:
http://forums.abbywinters.com/vbulletin/search.php?s=&do=process&titleonly=0&searchuser=laktor&starteronly=0&exactname=1&replyless=0&replylimit= 0&searchdate=1&beforeafter=after&sortby=lastpost&o rder=descending&showposts=1&forumchoice%5B%5D=0&ch ildforums=1&dosearch=Search+Now&saveprefs=1
For 'posts since last visit' change searchdate=1 to searchdate=lastvisit . You could store the above url, much easier to search Url is one long line btw.
Now for the big question, who are you interested in ??

Only problem is, there's a thin line between going to all that trouble to track someone's posts on a daily basis and an unhealthy obsession. Even then, Cleo's a good choice.

I think I get what you mean laktor... yeah in the today's posts or new posts section it will only show who the last poster was in that thread... so as arsby mentioned, that section only shows THREADS that have new posts in it and will list only the LAST person that posted in there... I've always seen my name in there after I post in a thread... It would be a bit silly if it listed all the individual posts that are new, could you imagine how long that list would be?!! So as was mentioned, if you wanna 'track' a particular person then you'll just have to click on their name and go to "View all post by xxx" in their profile

P.S. Which parameter do I change it to show any threads with my name in the last day?

Well, I started this thread, so maybe it was time for me to check back in, albeit briefly. Just wanted to say thanks for clearing things up for me. As Melinda suggested, I'm prolly gonna start a thread of my own to ask questions (and yes, some of them may seem silly). Just waiting for a good time to start.Last edited by laktor; 17 November 2007, 11:14 PM.

Any way you could whip up a magical link that includes recent quotes of me as well?
Even if you can't, I still love ya, Frans.

So you'll have to scan the boards somewhat yourself still
