New discussion board - nitpicking design complaints

    1) The "forum rules" section, the two tiny lines of text at the bottom of some of the screens, is blue on black and you can barely read it.

    2) When you want to start a new thread in one of the major areas (like I'm starting now in "abbywinters.com discussion" you have to scroll all the way down through 100 lines to find the "start thread" button. Should be on top near the newest thread headings.

    3) Now that you've got more than a year's worth of threads, the thread date should have the year in it.

At work they pay me to notice shit like this. Is that a great job or what? img tag disable, use attachment mgr/system to add images to postshttp://www.abbywinters.com/discus/clipart/crazy.gif

The colours are indeed all wrong. When I moved the boards, it reset everything, so I'm working my way through it all to match up.

As for the other things, I'll see what I can do, but don't hold your breath - there are limits on what is possible with this clunky software.

Sorry Arsby. Lost your posts that you just made during an update procedure. img tag disable, use attachment mgr/system to add images to postshttp://www.abbywinters.com/discus/clipart/sad.gif

I'll be fixing all the problems over the next couple of days, just be patient.

Year included. Colours fixed, almost like it used to be. Links restored. New Thread at top of page. Images and links within messages corrected.

        Um... anything else?

          Videoman,

May I suggest you inverstigate the forum software here:

          http://www.phpbb.com/

it's simple, versatile and gives the end users a good experience.

We prefer vBulletin, but phpbb is excellent as well. Unfortunately, there is no conversion software, to convert from Discus over to anything else. That means, we'd have to start over, which'd be annoying, and, IMO, demoralising.

Discus, the software we now use, is awful in so many ways, compared to the others out there, but when we chose it, it was the bees knees.

There were rumours of converters going about, so it may happen one day. *fingers crossed*. FYI, these latest problems are because we have moved the 'baords from the members area, to the free area - but only members can post. This way, the threads will be indexed on Google, and potential members can see how cool we are! img tag disable, use attachment mgr/system to add images to postshttp://www.abbywinters.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif
