Reduced Number of Stills in Girl-Girl Photo Shoots

I have noticed that a number of the recent girl-girls the photo shoots have contained significantly less images than usual. For a long time most girl-girl photo shoots averaged between approximately 225-300 photos. A number of recent shoots have had well under 200 photos (for example 167 photos for this week's shoot with Immie and Ren). Is this a purposeful change and if so why was it made? I read in another thread recently that the photographers are no longer editing their own shoots and there is a third staff member selecting the images. Is this staffing change the reason for the reduced number of photos or is it something else?

While quantity is not everything, this change is very noticeable in viewing the shoots. The shoots feel rushed and there is not the same continuity and flow that there was in the longer shoots. The way the shoots were edited and the number of photos was perfect for years, I am baffled as to why this has suddenly been changed. Please go back to what you were doing before.

Any chance of a response to this issue? This week's shoot with Juliette and Tahlia is only 137 images. The photos are of as great quality as ever, however the change in the editing is very noticeable.

As an example at the start of the shoot Juliette is wearing a sexy pink mesh leotard underneath her shorts. In picture 16 we see her start to pull down her shorts. Pictures 17-18 are closeups of her bottom in the leotard, then suddenly in picture 19 she is completely naked. We never see her in the pink leotard, we don't get to see Tahlia taking the pink leotard off Juliette. The recent shorter photo shoots have been full of jarring transitions like this one. I don't want to see the site go back to the motion capture style of pre-2004 shoots. However the removal of the 50-100 photos per shoot has taken away the transitional shots that should be (and used to be) included in sequences like this one.

Trebor, Izzy will respond to this but she's been very busy so expect a response in the coming week/few days.

and thanks for adding the example/details to your post. I do remember the slow-motion-capture style, I imagine most shoots are still shot that way. You can always remove pictures, but never add/create them. That must have been annoying before digital camera's, after all how many shots can you get on a single roll ;-)

Hi Trebor. Firstly thank you for your kind words regarding the quality of the images - ' great quality as ever,'. We are always training very hard as a team of shooters and over the last six months image quality and technical improvements have been things we have been trying to really smash !

The addition of our new staff member working on edits has nothing to do with the recent changes in how this is done, we are all trained to edit a set of stills the same way at HQ and all treat each shoot with the same care and love as if we have shot it ourselves.

As part of our recent training we have been studying the incredible back catalog of abbywinters and there has been a lot of positive things we have learned from looking at the work of passed talented shooters but also a few things we wanted to see if we could make even better. When editing a set of stills it is always important to get a balance between showing every possible detail and showing to much. For example I LOVE chocolate cake but by image 4 of the same uncut cake my interest levels will start to drop and I will be ready to see the next thing - the cutting of the cake! We are always listening, learning and reacting to feedback from all areas but for now one of the things we are looking to do in our photo sets is to make sure that only the very best images are being included and that out of these very best images, we are not over telling the same parts of the event but are always moving forwards and finding new interesting parts of the whole to show you!

Hi Trebor, firstly I am so sorry to not giving you any answer for so long time! We are very busy here with many things (like cross training and finding more new and sexy models ). We are always very happy to get any feedback from our members. Recently we have changed our editing style a bit. The sets are a bit shorter as we do not want to include too many repetitive images (I think Masie's cake example was very adequate ). However I went through the example what you gave us (Juliette and Tahlia), and I do agree with you on this that Julietta gets her pink outfit way to fast, and shows her bum with not so much teasing. I think we should improve more the shooting part than editing part. By this I mean to shoot more teasing sequences to give bigger choice to the editors and to our members.

Sometimes or whenever possible photographers edit their own sets however if we are busy with shooting, post production team is doing it, with that same passion and LOVE to the content as the person who shot it! We are very proud of having committed to excellence and passionate production and post production team who does care about the content a lot! Both teams had that same training on editing sets. Also after the set have been edited and post processed has to be reviewed. At the moment only our creative director, Masie and myself can review sets of stills. And as you know all of as have extremely vested interest in the company and in the content which we add to the website .

As you can imagine every new process needs some adjustments and thanks of your feedback and feedback of other members we can improve it! And we will do so with our editing style.

I hope we will improve as soon as possible and you will be more satisfied with the quality/quantity of the shoots which we produce!

            Have a lovely day/evening!

A reduced number of photo can be ok as long as I have my favorite pictures:
In each set, I would like to see at least a landscape photo showing correctly the model(s) fully naked (ie: zaira_161, kelly_m116, r_chervana_2176, r_gypsy126, amy_j040).

Hi Masie and Izzy, thanks for taking the time to respond to my post and for explaining more about the changes to the editing style for the girl-girl shoots. I understand your points about selecting strong images and about removing repetition from the photo shoots, however I feel you have taken these concepts a bit too far. Two negatives I see with the shorter photo shoots in the new editing style are:

                1. In order to fit everything in the models move quickly from position to position. The transition shots that were such an important part of the old editing style are often missing. The images in each photo shoot should collectively tell a story, without the transitional shots the shoots become a disconnected series of snapshots rather than one unified narrative.

                2. The pacing of the shoots has been accelerated, with the models getting completely naked and directly into oral sex early in each shoot. One of the things that worked so well with the old editing style was a build up of anticipation. Some of my favorite parts of the shoots were the foreplay at the beginning: the models flirting together (for example Misha and Noa on the lawn, or Gretchen and Sidney on the dock by the water), kissing, and undressing each other. With the new editing style these opening parts of the shoots have been abbreviated.

I very much appreciate everything both of you and the rest of the staff has done to keep looking for ways to improve the high standard already set by the site. I just feel in this case you may be trying to improve something that really didn't need it and would have been better off left as it was.

I think that the recent shoot of Justyna is another example of a smaller released number of images resulting in a "disconnected series of snapshots" but this may also be to do with the order they have been released. Example a theme with camera and photo's start image #055 (not sure where the camera came from wasn't in image #054) then the theme is interrupted in image #57 to 61 with some nice body close ups, then back to the them for image #62 (amazing pic btw) and #63. Same think happened earlier with a series of closeups of Justyna top then #21 and 22 seem totally unrelated then back to the theme. We also have some wonderful prop pictures of a necklace, bracelets (??) and feather that have no context to the images around it. All being amazing pictures but as trebor mentions (if I read him correctly) we loose the storyboard theme of a image set.

I believe Garion talks about "tease and reward" in his tutorials, it seems to me that on this set as an example the tease and rewards don't always match up.

I think Masie and Izzy are amazing photographers and the images are of the highest quality, but as Izzy says maybe they do need to take more of the transition pictures to help the editor make the image set flow more naturally.

I have realised after posting many times on these forums than my taste is not the norm and appreciate that many (most maybe) members are more than happy with just the "money shots" and how the set gets there is of no real concern, but pleased, that along with fellow long term member trebor, that in this case I'm not alone.

Know that we really treasure the opinions of our members and especially our long term members - you guys are part of what makes up abbywinters and it wouldn't be the same if we didn't have your opinions mixed with our own. We do listen to what you say and although it can seem like we don't listen I promise we do and what ever else we are doing the end goal is always the same, to make abbywinters as good as it possibly can be so we can all enjoy it.

For me, it's important to see "the full story" in the video but in the stills, it's more important to have some great pictures.
These great pictures are often missing. For example, they weren't in Ask & Caisa or Justyna's shoots.

I tried to explain it earlier with some example photos:

It's the kind of photo in which it's possible to admire the model fully naked. It has to be a landscape picture to be correctly displayed in fullscreen on a computer screen.

Do you need more information? more examples?

I'm trying really hard to give this new editing style a chance. It just seems that in both the solo and girl-girl stills shoots the style is getting more and more like what you see on mainstream pornography sites and slowly losing the things that have made this site unique for so many years. This is disappointing to see. You both are clearly talented photographers, the girl-girl shoots that were shot at the summer house last year were right up there with some of the best shoots ever shot on the site. I wish you would go back to shooting and editing in a similar style to these shoots.
